I died saving the future Alpha King.

He promised me forever. Called me his destiny.

Then on his coronation day?

He shattered my bones, cut out my tongue, and threw me in a beast pit to die screaming.

My entire pack—slaughtered.

All because his precious Omega lover whispered lies in his ear.

I woke up with a second chance.

This time? Corbin Nightfall can fucking choke.

I went straight to his brother Lucian Darkborne, the Alpha Prince everyone calls "the monster."

The one who secretly loved me for a decade. The one who died for me in my past life.

I whispered against his lips. "Your brother doesn't want me."

"So... would you mate with me?"

His eyes flared gold—feral, starving.

I didn't wait for an answer.

I leaned down and kissed him hard.

This time?

I wanted to see how Corbin could claim his Alpha King throne without me!

----

I was born with a gift most shifters would kill for.

Beast-speaking. That's what they call it.

My father always said it was a blessing. A sign that the Moon Goddess herself had touched our family.

Turns out, it was a death sentence.

In my past life, I saved Corbin Nightfall, the future Alpha King, without thinking.

The Silverfall Hunt. Savage beasts tearing through the forest. Corbin bleeding out on the ground.

I stepped in and used my Druid power, forcing the monsters to obey.

Corbin survived. And I was proclaimed his future Luna.

He held my hand. Said I was his destiny.

But on his coronation day as Alpha King, He broken my bones, cut my tongue and threw me in a beast pit to get ripped apart by starving beasts.

My pack was framed for treason. Slaughtered like animals. Newborns, elders, anyone who hadn't harmed a soul.

All because Corbin believed his precious Kaven Sinclair's lies. Believed I stole his glory. Believed I killed the person he loved.

Then I woke up.

Back on the day he faced danger again.

This time, Corbin could die for all I cared.

I stared at Luna Queen Evangeline's desperate face, I just feel tired.

"Luna Queen," I said, bowing. "I'm honored you thought of me. But I can't help."

Evangeline grabbed my hands. Squeezed hard. "Please, Elara. You have the ancient beast-speaking gift, right? You're the only one who can saved my son."

"I just talk to animals sometimes," I cut her off gently. "Party tricks. That's all. I won't risk the future Alpha King's life on something I barely know how to do."

The lie tasted so good.

"Besides," I interrupted, "you don't need to worry. Kaven Sinclair already went to get the royal warriors. Help is on its way."

I let my smile look reassuring. "The future Alpha King has the Moon's blessing. He'll be fine."

Hope drained from Evangeline's eyes. "But—"

"AHHHHH!"

The scream ripped through the air.

Everyone froze.

It came from the east woods. Raw. Painful. Barely human.

My wolf stirred and recognized a dying Alpha. I didn't care.

Evangeline's legs buckled. Alpha King Aldric caught her.

Footsteps pounded closer. Panicked. Messy.

Then they appeared—six guards, covered in blood, carrying a stretcher. Corbin lay on it, barely conscious. Shirt shredded, soaked red.

He looked like hell.

Good.

The guards dropped to their knees. "Forgive us, Alpha King! We failed."

"Useless!" Aldric's roar shook the ground. Eyes flashing gold. "This is how you protect the future Alpha King?!"

One guard flinched hard. "The tigers were rabid, Your Majesty. We couldn't—"

"Father."

Corbin's voice was weak, scratchy. He coughed, blood on his lips. "Don't blame them."

Aldric stayed quiet. Still angry.

Corbin pushed himself up on one elbow.

"The tigers were vicious," he said, breathing hard. "If Kaven hadn't brought the warriors... I wouldn't have made it back."

Kaven stepped forward. Smaller than Corbin. Lean. Pretty face that screamed Omega. Her clothes were clean. No blood.

Funny.

"I just did what anyone would," Kaven said softly, eyes down. "I couldn't let you die."

Evangeline rushed to Corbin's side. Hands hovering over his wounds. "Get the healers! Now!"

Two healers appeared fast.

Aldric watched. When the healers said he'd live, his shoulders relaxed a bit.

"You'll recover," one healer said. "But no shifting for a week."

Corbin nodded. Still pale. He looked at Kaven. Something soft in his eyes. "Thank you."

Kaven flushed. "It was nothing."

"It was everything."

Aldric cleared his throat. Everyone looked at him.

He studied Kaven. "You showed real courage today. Saving the future Alpha King. Name your reward. I'll grant it."

Oh, here we go.

Kaven's eyes flashed, but she made her face look shy. "I don't need anything, Alpha King. I'm just glad he's safe."

Corbin sat up fully. "Father, Kaven's too shy. Let me say it."

He took Kaven's hand. The Omega's breath caught.

"I've liked Kaven for years," Corbin said. "And now I owe her my life. I'm asking you—no, begging you—to make her my Luna."

The hall went dead silence.

Kaven Sinclair—an Omega from some random pack—as the future Luna Queen ? Not even close.

Sure, they were childhood sweethearts. But that meant nothing in pack politics. Mistress material, maybe. On a good day.

Aldric's face darkened. "You can't be serious."

"I am."

"He's an Omega, Corbin. You want him as Luna?"

"Yes."

Evangeline looked shocked. "This isn't just about feelings. The Luna position affects everyone. You have to think bigger."

Corbin lowered his eyes. letting everyone think he was struggling.

Then he looked up.

A decision had been made.

I stood there, watching. Almost impressed.

Almost.

Nice performance.

But this time?

I wanted to see how he could claim his Alpha King throne without me!

Chapter 2

"I know what it takes to be Alpha King. But I'm not going to rely on my family to get there. I'll earn it myself."

Corbin actually said that out loud.

To his father's face.

Like he thought he was so talented, so powerful, that he didn't need anyone's help.

Idiot.

Alpha King Aldric's face went dark.

See, Corbin forgot something. His dad wasn't born Alpha King. He was just another prince—nothing special—until he mated with Luna Queen Evangeline and used her pack's army to take the throne.

That's how he got his power.

And now his son was basically spitting on that.

"Good!" Aldric's voice shook with rage. "Very good! Let's see if you ever regret this!"

He turned to the warriors. "Draft the decree! Kaven Sinclair will be Luna! Set a date for the mating ceremony!"

Then he stormed out, coat flying behind him. Dramatic. Petty. Perfect.

Evangeline sighed and followed him.

The second they left, Corbin pulled Kaven into his arms. Looked at her like she was the only thing that mattered.

"Kaven," he said softly. "I swear I'll never let you go this time."

I watched them, and felt nothing.

Then I turned to leave.

"Wait!"

Corbin's voice stopped me.

He pushed away the people trying to help him. Limped toward me on that mangled leg. Got way too close.

He leaned in and whispered.

"Elara Stormwhisper, I know you've been reborn too."

My stomach dropped.

"Smart of you not to steal Kaven's moment this time," he continued quietly. "Last time, I was angry because you caused her death. So yeah, I went overboard with you."

"But this time, as long as you stay away from Kaven, I'll let you be my mistress."

I stared at him.

Mistress.

My pack has a history going back centuries. My father leads the Council of Alphas. I'm the only Alpha heir.

And this asshole thought I'd be his mistress?

I kept my face blank. "I don't know what you're talking about, Your Highness."

Couldn't let him know I was reborn too. Not yet. He'd come after me if he knew.

My eyes dropped to his destroyed right leg. The healers had tried, but it was still a mess. He'd limp forever.

Perfect.

A few nice words and the promise of being his side piece, and he thought I'd forget?

Forget him breaking my bones? Cutting out my tongue? Watching me die?

Corbin Nightfall could go to hell.

I turned to leave.

He reached out to stop me and lost his balance. Hit the ground hard.

"Corbin!" Kaven screamed.

I brushed off my sleeve without looking back and walked away.

When I got home, I saw my family.

Alive.

Safe.

My father talking with the pack council. My mother in the garden. And Frost—my white fox—ran straight to me the second I walked in. Jumped into my arms.

I held him tight.

My throat hurt and my eyes burned.

No tragedy would repeat itself. Not this time.

The Moon Goddess gave me another chance.

I wasn't going to waste it.

Next morning, an uninvited guest showed up before dawn.

Kaven Sinclair.

She burst into my room, eyes red and puffy like she'd been crying all night.

"Elara, you were born with everything!" she yelled. "Why do you have to compete with me for him too?!"

"I fought for the Luna position! I won't let anyone take it from me!"

I rubbed my sleepy eyes, slowly sitting up, looking at her in confusion.

Competing? With her? For Adrian?

When had I ever—

Kaven bit her lip, glaring at me.

"What did you say to him yesterday? He was calling your name. Even while he was unconscious."

I raised an eyebrow.

Oh.

This was going to be good.

"Didn't Corbin tell you?" I asked sweetly. "He begged me to be his Luna."

Chapter 3

Kaven's face went white.

Her lips shook. "You're lying! You seduced him, didn't you?!"

She screamed and came at me, claws out.

Frost moved faster.

My little white fox. My fierce, stupid, loyal little fox. Jumped between us. His claws ripped through her fancy dress—silk tearing loud in the quiet room.

Kaven shrieked and stumbled back. Tripped over the torn fabric and hit the floor hard.

I was about to call someone to help her up when Corbin's voice boomed through the doorway.

"Elara Stormwhisper! How dare you hurt her?!"

My maid stepped forward quickly. "Future Alpha King, Miss Sinclair broke into our lady's room and attacked first. Frost was only—"

Slap.

The sound cracked through the air.

My maid's head snapped to the side. Red handprint blooming across her cheek.

"Shut your mouth," Corbin snarled at her. "Nobody asked you."

His eyes landed on Frost. Then flicked to me with this awful little smirk.

"That beast just hurt my Luna. What are you going to do about it, Elara?"

My heart stopped.

I moved fast—stepped in front of Frost, shielding him with my body. "Corbin, Kaven barged into my pack and came at me first. You expect me to just stand there and take it?"

Corbin scoffed. "I'm the future Alpha King. Kaven's going to be Luna Queen. If she wanted to teach you some manners, you should've been grateful."

He waved his hand lazily.

Two warriors from the Nightfall Pack moved toward me.

They grabbed Frost by the scruff of his neck and slammed him against the wall. Hard.

Frost struggled once. Twice. Blood dripped from his mouth.

Then Frost went limp.

"No!"

The scream tore out of me before I could stop it.

It was the same.

Exactly the same.

In my past life, when Corbin threw me in that beast pit, Frost had tried to protect me. Tiny white fox against those massive starving tigers. He'd fought them anyway. Died with his neck broken right in front of me while I couldn't do anything but watch.

And now—

Now it was happening again.

Same broken neck. Same blood. Same helpless body crumpled on the ground.

Why?

Why did the Moon Goddess give me a second chance if I was just going to watch him die again?!

"Corbin Nightfall!" My voice shook with rage. "Frost was protecting me! What crime is that?!"

Corbin actually stepped back like I'd hit him. Then he turned to Kaven and gently covered her eyes with his hand.

"Don't look, Kaven," he said softly. "Don't let it ruin your day."

Then he looked at me like I was dirt.

"Consider this a warning. Next time it won't be the fox. It'll be you."

He paused.

"And don't get any ideas, Elara. Just because I offered to make you my mistress doesn't mean I care about you. You're not even good enough to serve Kaven."

"Think about my offer. After Kaven and I finish the mating ceremony, I'll come back and we can discuss the details."

Then he helped Kaven to her feet and they left together—him limping, her clinging to his arm like some tragic damsel.

I stood there watching them go.

My fists clenched so tight my nails cut into my palms. I bit down hard on the inside of my cheek to keep from crying.

Corbin Nightfall.

You keep destroying everything I love.

I'm done sitting here and taking it.

You want your mating ceremony so bad? Let's see if you even make it that far.

I carried Frost's body to the garden myself.

Buried him under the big oak tree where he used to play. Where the sunlight came through the leaves just right and made the grass warm.

He loved it here.

Now he'd have to stay here forever.

Tears ran down my face. I couldn't stop them.

"Miss Stormwhisper?"

A voice behind me. Soft. Careful.

I turned.

Lucian Darkborne stood there holding out a silk handkerchief. The Fourth Prince. Youngest son of the Alpha King.

Yesterday at the hunt, Corbin wasn't the only one in danger. Lucian had been separated from the main group too—trapped in the southeast corner with no backup.

In my past life, I'd been so focused on saving Corbin that I used every bit of power I had driving the beasts away from him. Left nothing for anyone else.

Lucian died screaming in a tiger's jaws.

This time, before the hunt started, I'd sent someone to warn him. Told him to stay in his tent. Don't go out alone.

Looking at the pile of gifts behind him now—jewels, furs, offerings, thank-yous—he figured out I'd saved his life.

I took the handkerchief and wiped my face. Looked him straight in the eye.

"Prince Lucian, if you really want to repay me..."

I paused.

"Would you mate with me?"
